The Equalizer 3 Synopsis
This is the long-awaited final trilogy of The Equalizer. After the release of The Equalizer 2 in 2018, director Antoine Fuqua has had serious conversations to immediately expect The Equalizer 3.
This film from American spy thriller multimedia franchise is still running with the same director, writer and team as The Equalizer 1 which aired in 2014 and The Equalizer 2 which premiered in 2018. Denzel Washington returns to his epic role as retired United States Marine and former secret agent, Robert McCall.
The story of The Equalizer 3 this time is simple but meaningful. Robert McCall just wants to live the rest of his life in peace. But all things related to his past come back to him. McCalls who moves to Southern Italy makes new friends. He tries to live life as well as possible with his new days and wants to escape from his past.
One day, McCall finds that his new friends are under the control of a crime mafia boss in the neighborhood. McCall has no choice but to protect his new friends by fighting the Sicilian Mafia (Cosa Nostra).
McCall who has moved away from his past life and takes on a new identity as a former assassin, has to face again the secrets of his past that have dragged him to a strange land.
McCall also helps a lot of oppressed people there to live again in peace. Meanwhile he also comitted several acts of murder in order to bring the government to justice.
All the action in this crime, action, and thriller film with a duration of 1 hour 49 minutes seems to show the audience how McCall is trying hard to uphold justice and equality in society, which is his ultimate goal.
This film will be a big reunion between Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning after 19 years ago they worked together on Man on Fire.
The People Behind
Talking about the success of a film means that we are praising filmmakers who work from day one to arrange seats in the cinema for the premiere of their film. Columbia Pictures will distribute this film at the end of August 2023.
They will bring back the big names and hard work of multitalented filmmakers, director Antoine Fuqua who also worked on The Equalizer 1 and 2, writer Richard Wenk, based on a story by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim from the CBS TV series, and also the class A cast.
Denzel Washington, who was an American actor, producer, and director born in 1954, returns to play Robert McCall. McCall has more or less the same characteristics a in The Equalizer 1 and 2. But in The Equalizer 3, which is the final trilogy, McCall suffers from severe insomnia and OCD. He becomes easy to rage when he has to face anything bad.
Director Antoine Fuqua who is eleven years older than Denzel Washington revealed that McCall’s character would be darker this time around. Even far more brutal and cold-blooded than the previous two films.
Quoting Fuqua’s words about McCall’s identity, he said that currently McCall is not sure about where to live on the earth. His best friend, Susan Plummer, has also died. His friends from the government group committed treason too in his last film.
There are some scenes that Fuqua wakes up here to show if McCall feels alone and lonely. The atmosphere here will be darker. The one which you may have never seen it before. Slowly but surely, McCall with all his limitations and the ideal life he wants now will start trying to find a way out to get out of the dark tunnel towards the street of lights.
Denzel Washington with Clayton Townsend and Antoine Fuqua become producers of this film. They also select a cast of superb cast as well Dakota Fanning as Emma Collins, Gaia Scodellaro as Aminah, Eugenio Mastrandrea as Gio Bonucci, Remo Girone as Enzo Arisio, David Denman a Frank Conroy, and many others.
Against the Cammora Mafia
There’s nothing that McCall’s afraid of at this point. Even though he heas severe insomnia and ocd behavior that overshadows his daily life, the triggers are direct to finish off the mobsters one by one. McCall is no longer afraid of death.
So far he has lived by killing many criminals around him. He had forgotten his original goal of living quietly for the rest of his life since he learned that many were oppressed and his new friends were also under the pressure of a sadistic mafia.
On the other hand McCall can survive by eliminating many of the criminals. He doesn’t have anyone waiting for him to come home and someone he loves. He becomes more brutal and rampage everywhere. Denzel Washington shows what a distraction is and how he struggles to retire in this Equalizer 3. It isn’t that easy for McCall to end everything from this dark line of destiny.
